Ecotourism

Travel Responsibly. Protect Nature. Empower Communities.

At TLC SAFARIS, we believe tourism should create value for both travellers and destinations. Our ecotourism strategy seeks to make travel a force for conservation, community development, environmental responsibility and sustainable economic opportunity. The flagship initiative under this vision is the TLC Green Trails Initiative.

TLC Green Trails

Discover. Conserve. Empower.

TLC Green Trails is TLC SAFARIS' proposed sustainable tourism initiative designed to connect tourism with environmental conservation and community development. The initiative aims to create tourism experiences where visitors can enjoy Uganda's natural and cultural attractions while contributing to the protection of the destinations they visit.

Our Promise: We want every journey to mean something. Through TLC Ecotourism, we aim to create travel experiences that allow people to discover Uganda while contributing to the protection of its environment, supporting local communities and strengthening sustainable tourism enterprises.

Our Initiatives

Green Trails In Action

Community Tree-Planting Programme

Community Tree-Planting Programme

Working with schools, communities, tourism stakeholders and local authorities to establish tree-planting activities around tourism destinations: restoring degraded areas while giving visitors a hands-on role in conservation. Plant a tree. Leave a legacy.

Plastic-Free Safari Campaign

Plastic-Free Safari Campaign

Promoting responsible use of plastics on safari trips through reusable water bottles, refill stations, reusable shopping bags and responsible waste disposal: reducing single-use plastic waste generated by tourism activities.

Responsible Safari Waste Management

Responsible Safari Waste Management

A "Leave No Trace" approach across our trips: travellers are encouraged to carry waste out of protected areas and dispose of it responsibly, with future waste separation and recycling partnerships planned with local communities and businesses.

Green Safari Transport

Green Safari Transport

As our transport fleet grows, we're progressively exploring fuel-efficient vehicles and, where commercially viable, hybrid or electric mobility: reducing the environmental footprint of tourism transportation.

Community Tourism Experiences

Community Tourism Experiences

Partnering with local communities on authentic experiences: traditional food, cultural performances, craft demonstrations, community walks, traditional storytelling, local agriculture, village-based tourism and cultural heritage tours.

Women & Youth Enterprise Development

Women & Youth Enterprise Development

Supporting women- and youth-led enterprises connected to tourism, from craft-making and produce supply to guiding and hospitality roles, with market access through the TLC Safari Store and selected TLC accommodation properties, turning tourism into an economic opportunity for local entrepreneurs.

Eco-Accommodation

Eco-Accommodation

Our planned TLC Safari Lodge will be our demonstration project for sustainable hospitality: solar energy, rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient lighting, water conservation, waste separation, local construction materials, indigenous landscaping, locally sourced food and community employment.

Green Tourism Entrepreneurship

Green Tourism Entrepreneurship

Supporting young people and community entrepreneurs in tourism-related green businesses: eco-guiding, sustainable crafts, recycling, organic agriculture, eco-friendly transport, nature photography, community accommodation, local food businesses and sustainable souvenirs.

Digital Green App

Digital Green App

Our IT team is developing a digital platform that handles online bookings while giving travellers visibility into our impact: trees planted, conservation activities and communities reached. Planned features include transport coordination, AI-assisted route optimization, logistics matching across East Africa, and tracking of fuel use and carbon reduction.
